Scabiosa, 'Fama Deep Blue'

(Scabiosa caucasia) If you live somewhere where winters do not generally fall below 0F and you can spare a well-drained little bit of earth, you would do well to grow these! First-year plants will initially create a cluster of lance-shaped grey/green leaves before, at long last, sending up wiry, resilient and fantastically long stems topped with the largest (3-4”) scabiosa flowers you’ve ever seen and all summer long!. Ranging from lilac to deep blueish purple they are, as are all scabiosas we’ve grown thus far, sweet-smelling and beloved to butterflies, beneficials and those lucky enough to have even a glimpse. A dramatic and long-lasting (7-10 days) cut/dried flower and perennial that will produce even more blossoms the second year…up to 20/plant. 3-5’ tall, 100-150 days, staking or horizontal grid netting highly beneficial for keeping upright for cuts.
