Cucumber, 'Silver Slicer'

(Cucumis sativus) Our dear friend and coworker, Rio takes issue with white vegetables deeming them suspicious in nature and therefore probably barely palatable at best. Well, we changed her mind with Snow White tomatoes (magnificent!) and are keen to change it again with this creamy white cucumber. Firstly it should be noted that these are never bitter and they have a crisp texture and mild pleasant flavor. They are prolific producers through late summer, resist powdery mildew and grow to 6-8” long and approximately 2” in width. Bred at Cornell University.

Growing Info

SOWING:

Sow indoors 3-4 weeks before your last frost date. Keep soil moist before emergence, growing at 70F.

Transplant out 1-3 weeks after your last frost date when the soil has sufficiently warmed.

Direct sow after 2-3 weeks after the last frost when soil is 70F+.

Note: Provide ample and even water when transplanting, and take care not to disturb roots.

Row cover may be used for extra warmth and possibly earlier fruit set. Remove as plants begin to flower.
