Product Information

**HEIRLOOM**

We first grew this tomato in VT, purchased the seed 3 years ago and have been cleaning it up ever since. Potato leaf variety with very early, bright yellow cherry tomatoes approx 1 diameter. Taste is somewhat reminiscent of a yellow pear tomato grown in the heat of the Midwest. Fragrant with a nice burst of subtle sweetness and a thinner skin. Resists cracking at all costs, to a ridiculous degree! Slow to develop its flavor, let them ripen to deep golden yellow for the richest taste.  This variety was brought to the states from Siberia, and enjoyed a brief flurry of popularity when Martha Stewart listed it an article about about new favorite tomato discoveries. It has however returned to obscurity and is rare.  Indeterminate.

UPDATE for 2012: I am eating Crow. I made Crystine write the original description for these as I had not much to say about their flavor. In fact, I had bad things to say about their flavor. Me and Reeb used to tease her about liking them and when we referred to her as "the kind of person who likes Galina" it wasn't exactly a compliment. Well, here's what you should know about them: Leave them. Enjoy your other tomatoes in the heat of summer. Pick some occasionally to add a splash of yellow to your salad. Dry, wet, it doesn't  matter. They won't split. EVER. When the weather gets cool and rainy and the rest of your tomatoes have gone south, they magically get freakishly good. And not just "good" in comparison to the others' badness. Like, really good...sweet and flavorful and all that. It's inexplicable. They'll last for a month or two once picked too. We picked a tote full this Fall and never got around to squeezing them for seed. Left 'em out in the front yard for 5 weeks in the rains of Sept.-Oct and once we gathered the courage to peek, we found most were still edible. And tasty. This is one weird tomato and definitely worth trying. Consider it your last taste of summer. Crystine gets the last laugh. Again. PS. And she still thinks they're awesome eating anytime!
