Not often found in the supermarket due to its short shelf life, the oak leaved kales are the most tender of all kales.  Hailing from Siberia, Red Russian is extremely cold hardy, surviving tepuratures to -10F. A nice addition to salads as baby leaf and a very productive adult plant for bunching and braising. Puple tinged leaves become sweeter and darker after first frost. Dates back to 1885.
